Excuse our language and all that. But…really…
What. The. Fuck?
The Washington Post is reporting that a number of women are coming forward to say that when they were teens, and he was in his thirties, Roy Moore (our unfavorite hard-right judge and/or Senate-candidate) approached them sexually. The youngest of them was fourteen at the time.
In Woman says Roy Moore initiated sexual encounter when she was 14, he was 32, reporters Stephanie McCrummen, Beth Reinhard and Alice Crites write that at least four women have said that Moore approached them when they were teenagers and either attempted to date them, or actually did so. One, the then fourteen-year-old Leigh Corfman, says that Moore took off his pants and had her erotically stimulate him through his underwear.
It is important to note that these claims remain in the “allegation” stage, and none of the women (at least as of press time) said that Moore actually had intercourse with them. In additional, the Moore campaign has vigorously denied the allegations and labeled them “fake news.”
That said…if there is any truth to the stories, then they are disturbing, indeed, particularly given that they are being made about a man who has based his whole political existence on his adherence to a uniquely unwavering, Biblically based moral code.
But as if that weren’t enough to freak us out, a few hours later RawStory was reporting that Breitbart.com editor-at-large Joel Pollack was defending Moore on the grounds that ‘Only one’ of [the] 3 teens was technically underage.
We’re confused. In fact, we’re so freaking confused that we are reduced to using the crudest possible language for lack of any alternative.
To wit: WTF.
And we have a horrible feeling that it’s not going to get any better, any time soon.
