And from around the web, we have all sorts of interesting stories this week. Presented, now, for your consideration…

Wondering why it is that Trump supporters seem to ignore reports of his obvious corruption and incompetence? Well, says the Washington Post, it seems that in a recent poll, half of all Republicans said that the news media is an enemy of the American people. How’s that for something horrifying?

Also in the Post, consider this fascinating article by Callum Borcher, Bill Cosby’s conviction will go down as the first of the #MeToo era. But surely not the last. Are you listening 45?

If you haven’t read about it already, there’s a new national memorial for the victims of lynching and other crimes of racial violence opening in Montgomery, Alabama. Check out this powerful article on it the New York Times, A Lynching Memorial Is Opening. The Country Has Never Seen Anything Like It by Campbell Robertson. Our favorite paragraph in the article is: “The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, which opens Thursday on a six-acre site overlooking the Alabama State Capitol, is dedicated to the victims of American white supremacy. And it demands a reckoning with one of the nation’s least recognized atrocities: the lynching of thousands of black people in a decades-long campaign of racist terror.”

It seems like everybody knows now about der Drumpf’s weird and rambling interview on Fox and Friends. But if you’d care to know what he did and did not sort of say, here’s a handy guide at the Post by Aaron Blake.

Want to see the future of work in America? Check out this interesting piece on NPR, High-Paying Trade Jobs Sit Empty, While High School Grads Line Up For University by Ashley Gross and Jon Marcus.

And a little bit of news from North Korea just to spoil your day. Time magazine says that the mountain range under which the country was testing it nuclear weapons has collapsed. That means it isn’t useful for exploding bombs under any more. Which, say the pundits, may be the real reason that North Korea is talking about scrapping its nuclear weapons program.

Finally, a scary bit of news that may explain why Trump was so gentle on Syria after its chemical weapons attacks on its own people. The Daily Beast is reporting that “Brian Ballard, viewed by some as the lobbyist closest to President Donald Trump, is working for an ally of Syria’s brutal dictator, Bashar al-Assad.” Specifically, his firm has “taken on a Dubai-based trading company called ASM International General Trading LLC as a client… General Trading is affiliated with a member of Syria’s wealthy Foz family of international businessmen, which reportedly has close links to the Assad regime.”

Once again, follow the money…
