I know it is still early in the 2020 Presidential race, but I would like to point out Senator Tulsi Gabbard did just help diplomatically diffuse a potentially volatile situation here in Hawaii.
Governor Ige had declared an “emergency” and had sent the National Guard over to the Big Island of Hawaii because a group of mostly Native Hawaiians had peacefully gathered at Mauna Kea to protect it and protest more large scale development.
She’s effective because within 45 minutes of Senator Tulsi Gabbard releasing this video. Governor Ige did decide to back off his plan to use the National Guard on peaceful protesters. A few days prior to this 33 Native Hawaiian Elders and one of their caretakers had been arrested. I cannot stress enough how delicate and sensitive of a topic this has been in Hawaii, but Senator Gabbard handled it properly and eloquently in my opinion.
Please watch video below to see Presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard in action.
