So, the HuffPost, among others, is reporting that a tRump appointee, Lynne Patton, a regional administrator for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, may have seriously broken the law. Specifically, if you are employed by the government in such a high ranking position, you’re supposed to avoid overt political action. To do otherwise would be to violate the Hatch Act, which is meant to prevent conflicts of interest.
But, Patton did just that by attacking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) on Facebook.
The story, however, gets better. When someone pointed out to Patton that there might be problem in her actions, she basically said she didn’t care if she did violate the law. In fact, HuffPost notes “Patton doubled down …mocking those critical of her as ‘lazy internet parrots’ and liberal snowflakes’ on her personal Twitter account.” Later still, she tweeted, “What part about ‘I don’t give a shit’ don’t you understand?”
Nice to know that our senior civil servants have such a command of the language.
