I keep track of things. I read a lot. I have a good memory.
So … when I read Trump’s tweet that he was elected “President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!” on 6 January, I wondered.
After all, I recalled that in October 1999 Trump had announced his candidacy (on the Reform ticket. I recalled his stating that Oprah Winfrey would be his ideal Vice-presidential running mate. His platform, as I recalled, centered on reducing the debt, fair trade and universal healthcare. Throughout his four-month campaign Trump attacked Pat Buchanan as a “Hitler-lover.”
It must all be a delusion.
2016 was Trump’s first candidacy.
