That’s pretty blunt stuff. He is saying that unless we act, and act soon, we’re doomed.
And guess who’s ignoring him and all other climate change warnings. Yep. The GOP. According to the Washington Post, the Republican party is following Trump’s lead in largely discounting climate change science as mere “alarmism.” Notes the Post, “Where the last Republican president, George W. Bush, acknowledged that the Earth was warming and that “an increase in greenhouse gases caused by humans is contributing to the problem,” the prevailing GOP view expressed on the campaign trail this year and espoused by many members of Congress is built on the false premise that climate science is an open question.”
But, of course, climate is changing. Climate science isn’t bunk. And, in fact, one of the salient features of science is it doesn’t care whether you think it is “alarmist” or not. It just functions.
There is, of course, a larger question here. Do the Republicans really question science? Or is it just in their interest to pretend that do?
And if it is the latter, exactly where are they planning to go when storms and fire and ice …and war…all come to their homes, and not just those of “little people” who vote for them?
