“They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made.”― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
It seems, at least according to his Dad, that Jared Kushner will succeed, no matter what, because of his excellent background, or something like that.
Writing in Vanity Fair’s Hive, Tina Nguyen, provides a fascinating (and sometimes disturbing) portrait of Jared’s father, millionaire Charles Kushner, who remains unshakable in his faith in his son’s ability to manage, and even thrive in Trump’s White House. She quotes the elder Kushner as saying, ““We didn’t raise our children as typical children...”
In that, he may have succeeded. But the real thrill in Ms. Nguyen’s article is in what it reveals about Charles Kushner, and the circles in which he moves. This is a man who has made quite a lot of money, and who is also a close, personal friend of Israel’s Prime Minister (and arch hardliner), Benjamin Netanyahu.
Ah, but there’s more. Charles Kushner has seen the inside of a prison cell. Notes Nguyen, he has served “time for tax evasion, election fraud, and witness tampering. (Kushner pleaded guilty to hiring a prostitute to smear his brother-in-law, among other things...)”
This is a member of our Power Elite, boys and girls, and the father of a man who is Donald Trump’s son-in-law.
Kinda takes your breath away, doesn’t it?
