Hatch Is Dispatched. Mitt’s In?

So the big news. Yesterday, Tuesday, January 2, 2018, Utah Republican Senator Orrin Hatch announced he was retiring.

Insert sound of inarticulate cheering here.

At one time, Hatch was just a standard-issue member of Congress. In recent months, though, he’s become one of der Drumpf’s more annoying sycophants. In fact, back in December, Dana Milbank, in a piece in The Washington Post, Run, Mitt, run, was openly calling Hatch a disgrace to Utah and the nation as a whole. He was also calling for Mitt Romney to run to take his place.

Looks like Mitt will do exactly that.

Oddly enough, as little as we might like Mitt, we here at LR Net are for it. Mitt isn’t our favorite person on the planet, but he’s proved himself a halfway decent human being, and a pretty good politician. (Let’s fess up. Compared to Drumpf, almost anyone looks terrific.)

And better yet, Romney has proved himself no friend of the Drumfster, and a decided foe of Stevie Bannon. Those are both good things.

So, to Orrin H…hit the road Jack, and don’t you come back no more.

To Mitt…

Let’s see if we can’t work something out. What do you say?
