New Flash: CNBC is reporting that Andrew McCabe said in a recent interview that Department of Justice officials seriously discussed how Trump could be removed from office in 2017. When Trump fired James Comey, says McCabe, DOJ insiders asked whether Trump couldn’t be removed via the 25th Amendment of the Constitution, and considered seeking allies in Congress to make it happen.
The DOJ, obviously, didn’t pursue the strategy. That leaves two questions. First, why did the DOJ elect not to follow what seems an obvious course, and, second, why is McCabe making the matter public now?
Could it be a message being sent to the White House?
