Here’s a sweet story for a new year. Time is reporting that California has become the first state to require pet stores to sell only “rescue” pets. Notes the article, “The new law, titled AB 485, is an effort to crack down on puppy mills. Starting on Jan 1. 2019, California pet shops will only be allowed to sell dogs, cats, and rabbits from shelters and rescues.”
Here at LR net, we wonder if the law will stand the test of the courts, but as owners of rescue pets ourselves, we think it is a great idea. There are too many loving animals in too many shelters. Let’s see if we can find them all a forever home.
