Here’s a delightful story and just in time for the holidays.
Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream is one of those companies that proves that a business venture doesn’t have to be brutal and inhuman. The company has been on the forefront of liberal activism for years, even after it was purchased by the giant consumer enterprise, Unilever.
And now Mister Ben and Mister Jerry have introduced a new ice cream flavor, Pecan Resist, which not only sounds delicious, but will also benefit the movement. Notes the company, “We are proud to announce that our newest flavor, Pecan Resist, has so much more than funky chunks under the lid. It supports four organizations that are working toward a more just and equitable future and peacefully resisting the Trump administration’s regressive and discriminatory policies.”
The organizations that will benefit from Pecan Resist are:
Honor The Earth, “a Native-led organization, established in 1993 to address the two primary needs of the Native environmental movement”
Women’s March, which seeks to “to harness the political power of diverse women and their communities to create transformative social change”
Color of Change, “the nation’s largest online racial justice organization,” and
Neta, “one of the fastest-growing independent media platforms led by people of color along the Texas-Mexico border.”
