Albuquerque Media Refuses to Report on Alleged Corruption of Republican City Council Candidate

On September 13 of this year, LiberalResistance.net ran an article about allegedly irregular legal fees charged by a Republican candidate for Albuquerque City Council (see Evidence of Robert Aragon Committing Tax Evasion or Worse?). Liberal Resistance’s source indicated that he had been a client of the candidate in 2005 and 2006, and that the candidate had required from him a $30,000 cash payment, for which he was given a hand-written receipt. The source provided this receipt to Liberal Resistance and a photo of it was included in the article. The source further claims that this $30,000 cash payment was never accounted for in his billing statements.

Liberal Resistance has informed several major news outlets in the Albuquerque area about this story and has indicated to them that the source was willing to come forward to produce the evidence of his allegations and to speak publicly. As of the writing of this article, no Albuquerque news outlet has reported on or sought to investigate this story.

Liberal Resistance finds it deeply disturbing that the local press has not elected to investigate such disquieting allegations, particularly when evidence can be had for the asking. Could it be that local media has an unstated agenda that includes continued Republican domination of the city government?
